FAQ

Q. Are your products made in a gluten free facility?
A. Yes! Bread of Life's gluten free facility is wheat free, tree nut free, lactose free, oat free, barley free and rye free. We are striving to produce as safe a product as possible for the gluten free community.

Q. What is sorghum flour?
A. Sorghum flour is a gluten free flour that comes from the sorghum or milo plant. It is very nutrient dense, unlike rice flour, and tastes delicious! Sorghum is grown throughout the midwestern United States. Our flour comes from a dedicated gluten free farm in Nebraska.

Q. Do you use hydrogenated oils?
A. No. We use olive oil, non-GMO sunflower seed oil and butter.

Q. What is the shelf life of your products?
A. After you receive them Muffins and Brownies can set out on your counter for up to 10 days or so. They can be frozen for up to three months or put in the refrigerator for 30 days.

Q. Why do you use free range eggs?
A. Our free range eggs come from birds that live in the sunshine and have normal chicken lives. They are not fed antibiotics or any other drugs so that no traces of such drugs can be found in the food we make for you.
Factory chickens are routinely fed drugs and live out their "lives" caged in small cells.
We feed free range eggs to our families because we feel they are superior to other eggs. We see our customers as an extension of our own families and want you to be nourished and blessed by the foods we produce.

Q. Can we come to visit your bakery?
A. Yes! Please call ahead for our baking schedule so you don't come on a day that we are closed.

Q. Who are you? (Are you Amish?)
A. We are Christians and though we do tend toward a life of simplicity and admire and try to embody purity, we are not Amish. Bread of Life was started by two home schooling families in 2002 and was joined by a third family in 2006. For more info see the "About Us" page.
