What our Customers are Saying

"I am the coordinator for the celiac support group in Lafayette, IN and I bought one of your muffins at our health food store, Sun Spot yesterday. I have never tasted anything that is gluten free that is that good."

Nancy Linnemann
Celiac Support Group Coordinator

I was diagnosed Celiac four years ago and my son almost a year ago and you are the only company I have ever written to. In the last four years I have wasted ALOT of money on products that looked great but ended up tasting like pencil shavings. This is why I am so very excited to have found you! Your new lifelong customer,

Tracey Dean

It is VERY good! I love it! I stopped buying gf bread...other than the occasional Mr. Ritts artisan bread once a year at gf fairs... because I don't really like it. The other brands that people say are good I can't eat due to corn or dairy. I really don't like Food For Life breads...too sweet or something. BUT, I really really liked your bread! (Kim did too! and every time I toasted some in my work kitchen someone said, "that smells so good."- no joke)

It has also been a life saver for me through my move for making tasty sandwiches. It's funny how something as simple as a sandwich can be a treat when you can't have one regularly.

I'm kind of backed up blogging right now...but I want to let everyone know about you soon!

Best,
Kelly

This week I purchased one of your Flax Shortbread Cookies at a Nutrition Store in Omaha. It is very delicious. I like your use of flax seeds, the variety of good flours, and organic evaporated cane juice. I look forward to trying your other products soon.

I have recently learned that I can no longer tolerate wheat. I've been eating gluten-free for the last 3-4 months and feel so much better. Recently I found some gluten-free chocolate chip cookies at the health food store in Liberty. I wasn't expecting much since most everything I had found up to that point wasn't all that tasty. I was pleasantly surprised with the best chocolate chip cookie ever!! I've always loved chocolate chip cookies and yours taste just as good - or even better - than any I've ever tasted. Thank you so much for producing gluten free products that actually taste good. It can be depressing to watch other people enjoying foods you used to like and not having any alternative that compares. Now I can go get myself a special treat and know that it will be satisfying. I love your stuff!!

I just made the muffin mix for the first time. I made them extra big like your packaged ones, and added choc chips this time. Wow!!! I only took a nibble off a side b/c I know my kids will go crazy when they taste these!!! I won't be able to make them quick enough!!! These are fantastic. Thank you-these are great!

I found your product in store and was THRILLED to find something GF that didn't taste GF! Was a bit of heaven to eat your apple and carrot muffins!

I just received my first order! Yes, your baked goods are the best!! I can't wait to place my next order and try the rest of your products. I also loved the fact that the cookies and muffins are individually wrapped! Great for travel and to take a long to work.

Thank God, someone who finally figured out how to make wheat free things that actually taste as good as the real thing. Thank YOU!!

My family loved both the Country Brown and Pumpernickel breads. We loved the rich flavors of both varieties. You've given us the gift of great quality, consistency, taste and nutrition. They are delicious! The breads are delicious. We toasted them both and they were yummy. My kids (3) devoured both loaves in 2 days. I thought they were more flavorful than any other gf bread. The consistency is terrific. They lasted on the counter for 2 days and were just as good day 1 as they were day 2 - no crumbling is always successful. I even tried a corner of the lighter loaf untoasted and enjoyed it. But I really kept to toasting since that is what you recommended. I would love to incorporate them into bread crumbs - to go with soups and salads b/c they are so robust in a good way! We truly loved them both. I esp love the ingredients because I am on the same page with you about healthy ingredients. 99% of the time I pass on the empty filler substitute foods. It's such a bonus to find quality replacement bread. Thank you!

I am not gluten free or celiac but I am always looking for good food products for my customers. I tried the the Country Brown and Pumpernickel (Rich Brown) bread toasted. It was as good as regular gluten bread. Not toasted it was good, but I loved it toasted. Even when it cools off it tastes great! The price is great for my customers also. Peace and Health to you.

Your gluten free bread is wonderful! I like it toasted for breakfast, with fruit spread. It's also great to have on hand for taking my late evening medication that requires being taken with food. Thank you for offering a great tasting gluten free product.

I have bought your muffins at Whole Foods but they are always out! So glad I found this link!!! Your stuff is the best!

Your new gluten free breads are great! BTW, Pumpernickel is by far our favorite. It smells delicious, and Gabrielle (who is NOT a celiac) simply loves it. She keeps begging for more. Sarah has had 4 slices today. This is great stuff. I'm sorry, but you are going to have to send another loaf on your next shipment! :)

I received your samples today. I have never tasted anything gluten free that is this good. I admit, glutton I am, I stood in my office and ate all of them!

I'm certain you get e-mails from grateful people all the time. But here is
one more. I appreciate so much the delicious baked goods you make and I
wanted you to know how you enhance my life. Because of you I'm not deprived
of delicious muffins, cookies or bread.
I can have sanwiches!! So thank you
for focusing on a small market and taking care of us.

These breads taste absolutely fabulous, and I can enjoy them knowing they are made in a 100% gluten-free facility. Not only is the taste fantastic, the consistency is also amazing. It is so much lighter than any other gluten-free bread I have tried. It feels like a "treat" to be able to eat bread that is so reminiscent of regular (i.e. gluten-containing) bread. All three varieties are excellent and well worth the cost, especially given that the main ingredient in these breads (i.e. sorghum flour) is so much healthier than the main ingredient in most gluten-free breads (i.e. white rice flour). Thank you for taking care to bake such safe, healthy, and wonderfully tasting products. I will continue to purchase breads (on-line) from your bakery in the future.

My package of cookies arrives today. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! I purchased your cookies looking for an alterative to airline snacks for my 9 year old son who is Celiac. It just so happened my son and his buddy were home when the package arrived, so of course we had to open the box and have a sampling. They just loved them! My sons gluten eating buddy especially like the Snickerdoodles, said they were the best he's ever had! When I ordered your cookies I was just looking for something somewhat palatable to take on the plane, instead we now have a special, delicious treat. As a mom of a young Celiac that is so very important to me. Thank you again,

Tracey Dean

P.S. I love the bread that came as a surprise, very yummy.

I just wanted to say "thank you" for your speedy service and to let you know that the bread you sent as a sample was wonderful! It was the first time in the past 4 months since I was diagnosed with celiac disease that I was able to enjoy a good piece of toast with jelly (the last brand of bread I tried was so awful, I had to throw it out). I just finished a turkey sandwich for lunch; I'd forgotten how much I missed bread. I'm going to email my friend, Mark, who has celiac as well to spread the word! Please keep up the good work.

Donna

I was able to buy your cookie mix at a local health food store and I have
never been so pleased at the outcome
. I made chocolate chip cookies from
the mix and they are delicious.
My husband who is not celiac as I am,
really enjoyed them also.
I plan on trying your cake and muffin mix the
next time I go to the health food store and I'm sure I will be just as
delighted. Thank you, so much.

I wanted to tell you I tried your cookie mix today and made the snicker doodles. My 27 year old son said he couldn't even tell it was gluten free. The true test. Thank you so much for your products! We are having a cookie exchange at our Celiac support group so I will put the word out on your cookie mix. Thanks again so much.

Blessings,
Elena B.

I wasn't going to buy your muffins but another customer in the store said they were really good, so I picked up two of them. I sat in my car, devouring both of them outside the store! A lady came up to see if I was ok. It was 102 degrees today and in my pleasure of enjoying your muffins, I had forgotten to start the car!!

Madelyn, Ohio

I was just in Kansas and your products are delicious. I had the blueberry muffin and the choco chip cookie. Yum! Thanks. I am LOVING the blueberry muffins!

My husband not only has a wheat allergy, but also an allergy to rice. He eats your muffins everyday and loves them. He feels very blessed to have a bread back into his life!

Thank you,

I ordered the muffins and cookies, best I have ever had in 16 years, you have my business for life... These muffins are a must: carrot cake and apple pie and the chocolate, sugar cookies are sinful, feels like your not eating something made GF! I have celiac friends galore from everywhere! It is really nice, so many companies have myspace pages, but, I have ordered from them all and you are the best tasting out of all of them!

Product Reviews

We received a surprise package full of muffins, brownies and flour mix from the Bread Of Life bakery, which has a gluten-, lactose-, tree nut-free facility in Missouri. Until eating these muffins, I had mistakenly thought "...the only good thing to come out of Missouri was Mark Twain!" (To quote Bill Bryson...again.)

With way too many muffins for just us two petite celiac chicks to eat all by ourselves, we decided to put them to the true test - we set them out on a platter in our day job office and waited to hear either grumbles or inquiries from the gluten gluttons. When it comes to food these people are brutally honest.

We waited patiently.....

As it turned out, even our pickiest co-workers had positive things to say about these muffin treats. Maybe it was because of the neutral taste of the sorghum flour, or maybe it was due to the generous sugar content? Who knows, but some even asked if they could take an extra muffin for their breaky the next morning!! Now that is the true tell tale sign of deliciousness!

The two most popular flavors among our test subjects were the carrot cake and apple pie muffins. These goodies can be purchased in the southwestern United States at various health food stores, including Whole Foods. They will soon be available in other regions, but in the meantime you can order these and other Bread Of Life treats online.

A fresh baked, portable, individually wrapped, gluten free sugar cookie. This would be perfect for those times when I am traveling and want something sweet, but homemade. This, I had to try.

Bread of Life creates these gluten free sugar cookies in a dedicated gluten free facility that is also free of rice, soy, rye, nuts and oats. These huge and hearty 4 ounce gluten free cookies sell for $2.49 and easily satisfies a savage sweet tooth.

I tried this cookie five days after Bread of Life sent it to me; not because I didn’t want to dive in right away, but I wanted to see if this gluten free sugar cookie would actually last more than a few days.

This cookie definitely passed the shelf life test. I found the cookie chewy and dense with a wholesome, hearty taste thanks to the sorghum flour, evaporated cane juice, butter, and free range eggs- simple ingredients that create a simply yummy cookie. Because these ingredients are different than a “typical” sugar cookie, the flavor is also somewhat different than what I expected. It was a good different! The buttery flavor also added a nice balance to the other ingredients.

The texture of this cookie is not grainy, dry or gritty, like many gluten free cookies I have tried. It is somewhat soft, but with a satisfying density you can really sink your teeth into. Topping this cookie was a thick, sugary sweet topping that provided a crunch. However, I found it to be overwhelming so I brushed off the excess topping. No big deal.

My favorite way to eat this cookie is warmed in the microwave for 10-12 seconds. It literally melts in your mouth. Yum.

Pros: doesn’t taste gluten free , chewy and satisfying

Cons: thick sugary topping

This review will kick off a series of reviews for Bread of Life fresh baked goods. Since many of their products are packaged individually and have a shelf life of 7 to 10 days or so, I thought they would be a great option for gluten free traveling. They may be purchased online for $2.79, or in select natural foods stores in the southwest.

Bread for Life Gluten Free Bakery was started by two homeschooling families in 2002 and is based out of Missouri. Their products do not contain any rice flour ( gasp! is that possible in a gluten free product?!?) and feature wholesome, rich, high quality ingredients. (Click HERE to read their amazing story of how the Bread of Life bakery came to be). Their dedicated bakery is free of wheat, gluten, rice , oats, rye, peanuts and tree nuts.

First of all, these hefty and filling gluten free chocolate chips muffins are incredibly soft and scrumptious. As I gingerly sliced the muffin in half, I expected it to crumble since it was so soft and moist. Nope, not the case- hardly a crumb! These muffins have a smooth texture and mild pleasant flavor that screams ”I’m homemade!” The body of the muffins are not grainy or gritty like some gluten free baked products, and do not taste gluten free at all. Seriously. They are that good.

It is obvious high quality ingredients are used. The fact that free range eggs and sorghum flour also make this gluten free product appealing. The muffin was mildly sweet, flavorful and was perfect paired with a big glass of ice cold milk. The best way I can describe the flavor of this gluten free chocolate chip muffin is simply delightful, sinfully rich and lip-smacking good.

Although the body of the muffin is soft, smooth and moist, the topping threw me for a loop. A thick, sweet coating on top helped me crunch my way through the muffin. I do like a bit of sweetness with my muffins, but I found the sugary topping to be overwhelming at times. So, I simply brushed off the excess and was satisfied with the result.

The chocolate chips in my muffin also seemed a bit sparse- but the chocolate that I did taste was flavorful and seemed balanced with the overall flavor of the muffin.

Thanks to Bread of Life for the muffins. This is a great gluten free product from a great start-up that I am happy to support. Look for more muffin, cookie, and bread reviews this month from Bread of Life. You’ll be in for a treat!

PROS: soft, moist, flavorful, do not taste gluten free! Individually packaged for freshness, high quality ingredients

CONS: crunchy sweet topping may be overwhelming,
